My role at PCR Digital?
I do everything in the office that isn’t recruitment, from weekly and monthly payroll for our contractors, arranging interviews, managing our company benefits, client invoicing, assisting our contractors with timesheet and invoice queries, onboarding new contractors, marketing, HR and social media. I’m also known for making the best cup of tea in the office.
Some of our contractors have been contracting for most of their careers and don’t require a lot from me other than an efficient and professional service, whilst others may need varying degrees of support from advice on IR35, umbrella vs. limited companies or VAT registration. Either way, I’m always happy to help.
Why PCR Digital?
The first time I came into contact with PCR was as an HR manager, hiring an IT Manager. I was used to receiving a huge stack of CVs for each role and then sorting and screening them before presenting them to the hiring manager. PCR only sent me three CVs and I couldn’t understand why there were so few CVs! It turned out, they’d only sent me the best candidates that they could find. And they were right, because we hired their candidate and didn’t waste any time reviewing irrelevant CVs. It was only then that I got to understand how they work in comparison to all of the other recruitment agencies that I’d been dealing with.
Now that I’m working at PCR, I can honestly say they are a really nice bunch of people and they are probably the only truly ethical recruitment company I’ve ever worked with – and I’ve worked with a lot! I’m helping Jane to grow our team of consultants. We’re hiring based on personality and cultural fit, rather than experience. Recruitment can be taught – but personality and character cannot.
My areas of specialism
I brought all of our accounting in-house, which included setting up a timesheet and invoicing portal and running payroll every week. This has allowed me to provide clients and contractors with a more efficient and personal service, and means questions are answered immediately, and any problems can be dealt with quickly.
As Operations Manager, my role is all encompassing and I’ve run a number of change management projects, which have been and continue to be transformational for the business. I find that incredibly rewarding and not necessarily something I’d get to see in a larger organisation.
