Joe James - Senior Tech and Accessibility Consultant

I work as a 360 recruitment consultant, and I take the second part of that title seriously. I consult on digital and technical teams, how they can grow and what their needs are. I ensure that each member of the teams I work with are feeling happy and fulfilled within their roles.

This reaches beyond your bog-standard recruiter, who may do a keyword search and put bums in seats. I care about the work I do and the work of my contractors and those I place into permanent roles.

Joe James Smiling

Joe helped me find my contract role with Apple. From our very first call, he has always been friendly, engaging and helpful. Throughout the whole process, he has guided me and checked in regularly. This has really helped to make the process smooth and additionally, help me to feel very supported by him. Joe and his team have also been very prompt when I’ve had any questions (which I love) and I cannot recommend him enough. Thanks Joe!

Natalie Thompson - Web Accessibility Engineer

What is your specialist area?

I specialise in digital accessibility. This is an area of true passion for me, which is why I became a technical and digital accessibility consultant. I’ve worked in this field for over 5 years, sourcing and hiring some of the best web, iOS and MacOS accessibility specialists in London for one of the world’s biggest technology companies (shh!). I genuinely love this field and am personally studying for my own certification to ensure that the consultancy I provide reaches beyond standard recruitment.

What roles do you work on the most?

I place software engineers and developers, UX and UI developers and designers, DevOps engineers and project managers. I also work on a wide variety of roles within highly technical or niche areas. I just love tech and learning from each conversation I have!

Why are you a technical and digital accessibility consultant?

As most recruitment consultants will tell you: I fell into it. I have had a very varied career prior to PCR Digital but I genuinely believe I’ve landed on my feet. I work with some incredible people within PCR as well as speaking to fascinating and extremely talented people externally on a daily basis. I love my job!

Why PCR Digital?

I’ve been asked this question a lot over the years as recruiters do tend to bounce around a bit, and I can honestly say that this is the most caring, genuine, fair and honest company I’ve worked for, or even known of, for a very long time! I’m given the autonomy to work in the way I believe is best to achieve my goals, I have a fantastic support network around me 24/7, I care about my colleagues and I know that they care about me just as much. The work I do is just so fulfilling!

What are you passionate about?

Family. I am so grateful for all that my family and friends have done for me throughout my life that it’s created a real passion for paying that back/forward in all that I do. They’ve allowed me to be the best version of myself, so I want to make sure I can help them in the same way.

What do you love the most about your job?

I am constantly learning. No two days are the same (they may be a bit similar) but it’s all just conversations and learning! Speaking with incredibly intelligent and fascinating people on a regular basis is a blessing.

What is one fun fact about you?

My Fiancée and I have a vinyl record collection of over 2,000 LP’s – The majority are 60’s, 70’s & 80’s rock, punk, metal and some more well-known classics. My favourite artist of all time is 80’s Alternative/goth-rock band, The Cure!
