Non-Linear Systems Engineer / Media Engineer for a large Broadcast and Media company based in West London. We are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record in the broadcast sector, working with non-linear and OTT media services. Required to provide configuration and requires scripting (Javascript/Python) of workflows for non-linear distribution systems, Digital Media Asset Management (ideally evertz Mediator) and media processing platforms (Ideally Telestream Vantage, Transcoding and formats System Administration includes roll out of scripts on a live environment; particular knowledge of Javascript or Python is essential, and competency using Linux, PHP and MySQL/ SQL, Oracle etc.
Experience and Professional Qualifications Required:
-Education to Degree level in a related Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering or Systems field, Alternatively educated to A level standard with relevant experience.
-Greater than 4 years demonstrable track record in broadcast sector working with non-linear and OTT services.
-System administration experience of Digital Media Asset Management, VOD and other Broadcast IT systems.
-Experience in the deployment and maintenance of non-linear distribution channels
-Able to Act as a centre of excellence giving advice on technical issues relating to digital media and non-linear services/ platforms.
-Ability to administer and roll out scripts on a live environment; particular knowledge of Javascript is essential, as is a competency using Linux, PHP and MySQL/ SQL, Oracle.
-Experience of systems administration.
-An excellent knowledge of IT systems, WEB/ interactive TV technology and non linear broadcast systems including transcoding environments is required.
-Previously have worked in an engineering position within broadcast television, and be conversant with a wide range of technical terms, concepts, equipment and procedures relating to the field.
-Knowledge of File based video and Audio codecs, transcoding and MAM concepts are also essential (ideally MXF, MPEG 2 Transport Stream, XDCAM etc)
Responsibilities include:
-Provide system administration of non-linear distribution systems, including the on boarding of new clients.
-Develop/ script solutions to support new non-linear services using the current platforms
-Develop new solutions and platforms to support business operations within a prescribed development framework
-Assist the wider engineering team with solutions development (scripting, reporting, application development)
-Work with the commercial team to ascertain client requirements during the on boarding stage.
-Work with third party support teams to troubleshoot and resolve technology problems
-Effectively document problems and their resolution
-Keep abreast of industry developments and recommend solutions/ enhancements as appropriate
-Assist in the implementation of hardware and software upgrades and the installation of new equipment relating to projects and new business
-Interface with the IT infrastructure teams to ensure broadcast infrastructure hosted on IT servers are maintained and updated as required.
-Produce/ update comprehensive and complete documentation for any technical changes or installations including wiring/ cable schedules, workflow drawings and project documentation
