Advice for contractors

whether you’re a seasoned contractor or new to the game, we can help.

Looking for contract roles?

If you are a new contractor it is very important that you understand the various options of working so that you can make an informed decision on what is right for you.

Whilst these different ways of working are outlined below, we would advise you to research the options of either Limited company or going with an Umbrella company to understand them better.

LIMITED COMPANY CONTRACTORS

Before you can begin your contract with us, we'll need to check that you have all your documents in order:

1

COPY OF VALID PASSPORT, VISA (IF REQ.) CERTIFICATE OF INCORPORATION AND SHARE CERTIFICATE, VAT REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE AND INSURANCE CERTIFICATES

We must receive a copy the above documents before we can send you your contract. Failure in providing these documents before your contract start date may result in your contract being delayed.

Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance Certificates: These must be a minimum of £1million each

Please scan and email the above documents to joe.james@pcrdigital.com

2

BANK DETAILS

Limited Company: A letter from the bank, a bank statement or cheque will be required as proof of your company bank account belonging to your Limited company. Please make sure your Limited company name, account number and sort code are clearly stated, otherwise this may result in delayed payment. If you have any queries regarding payroll, please contact our accounts team on accounts@pcrdigital.com.

3

SELF-BILLING

Our accounts team will be in touch in regards to our self-billing service, which is free of charge.

4

AGREEMENT FOR THE SUPPLY OF SERVICES + SCHEDULE

A standard Agreement for the Supply of Services (your contract with us) with a Schedule that is specific to the actual contract will be sent to you by our online Echosign service. This needs to be checked, signed and returned to us. If the contract is extended you will receive only a Schedule to the Agreement which you should handle in the same way.

5

PROOF OF ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, UTILITY BILL (IF REQ.)

We may ask to see copies of these.

6

TWO REFERENCES

PCR agrees with its clients that it will, whenever possible, have taken up two references on all contractors prior to them starting an assignment. So, if it is your first time working through PCR, we will ask for names and contact details of referees.

UMBRELLA CONTRACTORS

If you are new to contracting, the Umbrella company route might be the most beneficial to you in the first instance - giving you time to fimiliarise yourself with how a Limited company works and how to set one up.

We work with a number of Umbrella companies here at PCR. We’re happy to give you the contact details of a selection of Umbrella companies, so that you can contact them to discuss your specific requirements directly.
